About
About the Photography
Photography’s visual realism creates clear meanings that require skill and artistry to blur into something that transcends the medium itself.
Therefore, photography’s brush strokes (pixels, jpeg artefacts) do not convey feeling or meaning on their own. Instead. Photography relies a stronger hand – one that uses the process, rather than the medium to create art.
This makes photography an outlier in the arts, as its process can easily be commercialised and its results used to tell unambiguous stories, making it a strong contender as an instrument of design, journalism and politics, rather than art.
That being said, for an artist, photography can become their medium – above the pixels and jpeg artefacts are shapes, and shades, colours, and contrasts. These the artist works on, and often what appears to be a work of design, easily becomes a work of art in the photgrapher’s eye.

About the Artist
I began exploring the process of photography through my travels. By finding myself in unique locations with unique people, my camera was often the only constant.
Working back as I worked forwards, the cameras moved from being witness and truth-teller, to medium and story-teller as I began to realise the images I took were not the reality of my experiences, and could never reflect the truth of those experiences.
Instead by focussing on photography as an art form, I use image as a way of exploring my own ideas and the ideas of the viewer, as a starting point for a discussion on reality, memory and beauty.
As a commercial photographer, I bring the skills that define the art to create compelling narrative images that tell a story as well as challenge and satisfy aesthetic principles.
